Wooden signs offer a classic aesthetic that is appealing to many types of business, and styles. With their signature look, they attract attention, and can be customized to display a variety of messages. However, wood signs eventually will often fall to the damages of weather, water, and time. This was the case with our client, J.J Rassier, who manages the mobile home community, Georgian Manor, in San Leandro, CA. The commercial property managers were concerned over the deterioration the wooden street signs on their property were seeing.
In 2013, our team told J.J. Rassier that the signs should be replaced with High Density Urethane (HDU) sandblasted signs, that have a similar appearance to wood, yet offer a durability that surpasses wooden materials. Fourteen signs were replaced, then in January 2015, an additional ten signs were falling prey to the same damage. Signworks, Inc. came back, and we fabricated the signs measuring at 5.5”x1.5”x34”. As of now, twenty-four signs have been replaced, and as the remaining signs will be updated as the wood continues to erode.
