Earlier this year when Sgt. Bradley of the Alameda Police Department contacted us again it was because he needed to solve a very specific problem. Though the Police Department already had 10” black Channel Letters across the façade of their brick building, the tree cover and night shading made nighttime visibility a huge problem. Sgt. Bradley was open to suggestion and we guided him in reviewing the various types of channel letter lighting options, including halo-lit, reverse lit and back-lit letters. We sent him pictures of each type so that he could fully understand the differences.
After conversations with staff and approval by his superiors SignWorks was tasked to provide the permit drawings and to work with the Building Permit and Public Works staff to ensure the correct electrical power source was in place. The decision was made to add a 24” tall shield shaped logo that was a part of the Alameda Police Department uniform. This shield shaped logo had to be recreated so that it could be produced and mounted to a LEXAN sign face which would form the exterior lighted sign cabinet.
Because of the brick face of the building we added a raceway below the letters to house the lighting elements for each of the individual letters. This raceway was painted to match the black letters, which are lighted with blue LEDs.
In the photograph above you will see the illuminated channel letters and complimentary shield shaped light box. These sign letters and light box were crafted using only high quality components and LEDs. Our company uses the latest in sign technology and design techniques.
