Working with an installation partner we were able to repair and upgrade the light box for the Sea West Coastguard Federal Credit Union in Alameda. The sign face had shattered and the client guessed that the acrylic face had likely been there for about 30 years. The old neon was upgraded to new LED’s and new transformers were added. The Acrylic face was replaced with a LEXAN sign face given the superior wear characteristics of the latter. Since the lettering was old and sun-bleached, we did our best to match the faded color rather that have the client take on the expense of updating all of the remaining letters. We also learned that a wiring issue prevented the channel letters above the light box from working, so we tackled diagnosing and repairing this problem as well. We know the client is pleased with the outcome and to finally give the client a sign that operated correctly and illuminated at night.
