Years ago I remember taking BART to San Francisco and being delighted by the M&M floor graphics that greeted me as I took the stairs down to the next level. It was before I even ventured into the sign industry or even knew anything about sidewalk graphics. Who knew that floor graphics could be used in so many ways and to promote everything from products to festivals, sporting events, brand awareness campaigns and sidewalk sales!
Imagine my delight when years later I would have the privilege of working alongside the installer responsible for the M&M floor graphics installation at that BART station. As someone formally trained in business and corporate marketing I’m always impressed by creative ad campaigns that are effective, especially those that take the message to “the street.” Sidewalk or street advertising tends to be fun and very noticeable. Marathons, tournaments and festivals will often attract advertisers and event sponsors who use arrows and footprints to guide customers to designated areas or to deliver their marketing message.
Street graphics are also great for awareness building campaigns, promotions and sidewalk sales. And, one of the neat features associated with floor graphics is that they are developed in such a way as to guard against slippage, even when water is present.
