We were thrilled when the East Palo Alto Police Department contacted us to discuss their fleet graphics project. The door decals used on their cruisers had been produced so long ago that a digital file did not even exist! We took the sample decal they provided and went through the necessary steps to clean up the art file after we scanned it. We then recreated the file using Adobe Illustrator.
The next challenge was to find the closest match to the color after making allowances for the fact that the star image used in the decals would be mounted on reflective vinyl so as to be visible at night. This process took a few iterations but was successful. The end result is that the East Palo Alto Police Department now has 12 new sets of decals for their cruisers and a brand new digital art file. This allows them to produce more decals as the need arises or when the older decals become worn.
