There are a large variety of substrate materials that can be used indoors. These include:
• Gatorfoam is light-weight yet dense foam that has a hard smooth surface that can be painted or laminated. It is easy to customize but may not be appropriate in certain environments because it can be easily indented. If it’s going to be mounted above eye level and not subject to handling, it can serve as an economical sign material choice.
• Sintra is another light-weight PVC foam board that due to its closed-cell structure is easy to shape. It’s great for large cut-outs and logos.
• Acrylic Laminates, as the name implies, is a thin sheet of acrylic mounted to PVC or Gatorfoam to add dimension. It makes for a crisp modern look. Using a clear acrylic laminate with a colored material underneath can make for an interesting contrast.
• Metal laminates are a cost effective alternative to cast metals. By mounting a thin sheet of metal to PVC or foam one can achieve depth and dimension very affordably.

• Sign Foam is a high density polyurethane board that is very versatile. It can be carved to look like wood grain and is an inexpensive alternative to real wood.
• PVC which can be painted a variety of colors is a great material for indoor lobby signs. While its lifespan is limited for outdoors, it’s used frequently to make all types of indoor signs.
• Routed Signs involves a 3D process for carving letters and logos into solid materials such as wood, high density foam, acrylic and the like.
