The typical reception area sign will include the corporate logo and tag line if any but other considerations include the following:
1. The location
2. Size or square footage
3. Mounting surface
4. Illumination
Usually, if there is a lobby station or desk, then the wall immediately behind it represents the ideal location for the sign. You will want to choose the area that visitor’s and customers see when they first enter your facility. It should be easy to read and not overpowering. There should also be enough empty or negative space around the signs so that the name and logo elements are prominent and visible. In general, the size should be about two thirds of the width of the wall. Most are centered relative to the wall but, depending on the design, it may look better offset toward the entrance itself.

Some reception area signs are directly attached to the wall, while others are attached using metal stand-offs to give a slightly different look. And, if the budget allows for an illuminated sign, then this can be used to grab even more attention!
