Equip Yourself & Your Leadership Team For Success
When you think of a leader, a stereotypical image likely comes to mind. Most people think leaders must be commanding, loud, and potentially bossy. While some leaders are louder and more assertive than others, leadership is something people with any skill set and personality can develop with the right training and practice.
If you own or oversee a business, you likely have some experience as a leader. However, every leader can improve and hone their skills, and partnering with a business coach is a great way to grow personally and get the most out of your team members.
I have worked with businesses of all types over the years, and my coaching services are tailored to the needs of my clients. While I offer a full catalog of services, almost all my clients can benefit from leadership training in some capacity. In the sections to follow, I will discuss a few elements of my leadership training approach which are proven to help people improve their team’s performance.
Learn Effective Communication
Clear and efficient communication is a key trait of any leader. As a business owner, your vision for your employees must be easy to grasp, and effective communication helps you secure everyone’s buy-in. If you are an executive or a manager, communication is also key because you are responsible for executing the owner’s vision, and you must clearly state each person’s role in accomplishing a given task. Being a great communicator is just as much about listening and knowing your audience as it is being clear with your words, and in my training we discuss best practices for communicating in any instance.
Keep Employees Motivated
Once you have communicated clearly and explained someone’s role on your team, your job as a leader isn’t over. Keeping people on task and motivated to do their best work is another important trait of a leader, and motivation doesn’t come naturally. In order to effectively motivate people, you must help them understand how their performance impacts others, and how it will help them reach their own goals. When I train leaders, we discuss tactics for learning people’s “why” and then genuinely helping them be their best so they in turn can help the company perform its best.
Delegate and Manage Time Efficiently
The fatal flaw of many leaders is trying to accomplish every task on their own. This is especially common in people new to leadership roles. An effective leader must understand they can’t possibly do the job alone. Part of being a leader is delegating, and it’s a task you can improve with practice. When I work with leaders, we discuss how to clearly delegate a task, how to ensure it’s done properly, and how to know which tasks are worthy of delegation. Once mastered, the art of delegation will allow you to effectively manage your team and your time.
