If you live in the East Bay Area you probably know about the Earthquakes that we get here.  The San Andreas fault line is one of the more active fault lines in the world, supposedly primed for another huge plate tectonic shift soon...so they say.  Obviously no one really knows when and if another big is imminent.  But better safe than sorry, right?! I think we all remember the BIG ONE in 1989, even if you aren't from this area.  If you've moved here, you should know about the earthquakes in the area too.  And if you just bought a house and had no clue that there are Earthquakes in the area then you might want to consider getting a new real estate agent! So if you're buying a home and it's near the Hayward fault line you should consider Earthquake Insurance.  At the very least you should retrofit your home to be earthquake proof.  It can save you a ton of damage. And if you're consider the costs of earthquake insurance it might make sense for you, and it might not.  The point is, you should talk with an Earthquake specialist that knows their stuff and knows the area.  Not everyone does.  But when it comes to your home, your family and your livelihood, it's best to talk with someone who has your best interests in heart and not looking for a sale...
