Water Pump Breakdowns

When water pumps fail, it can lead to severe problems. Cracks can develop in the block, heads, and pistons because of overheating. An overheated engine can warp the block/head mating surfaces leading to a blown head gasket. 

A malfunctioning water pump is something you want to catch early. If you see signs of a coolant leak, even a small one, bring it in immediately. If your engine runs hotter than normal, have us check it out. 

Coolant provides lubrication for the water pump. If an air bubble is in the system, the water pump will cavitate, lose lubrication, and break down. Contaminated coolant or the wrong kind of coolant can cause water pump failure.

Duramax water pumps fail early when the impeller spins on the shaft stopping coolant flow. We suggest changing the water pump as preventative maintenance for high-mile Duramax engines.

Faulty PVC Valve

GMC produced a run of defective PVC valves. When this part malfunctions, it allows engine oil into the turbocharger, gumming up the works. We will replace the faulty part with a long-lasting aftermarket piece before it causes turbo problems.

Easily Clogged MAP Sensor

In 2017 models GM implemented Denso injection pumps to replace the troublesome Bosch units. This generation of MAP sensors easily clogs, illuminating the Check Engine light. We will clean the MAP sensor and add an aftermarket part to prevent a reoccurrence.

Troublesome Fuel Injectors

Injectors are the components that squirt the fuel into the intake tract when triggered. The throttle position sensor (TPS) communicates the throttle angle to the powerplant control module (PCM).

The PCM uses this signal on a millisecond basis to control the fuel injector pulse width, which regulates the air/fuel mixture. The wire attached to the injector is how the PCM tells the injector when to inject and how much fuel, so it needs to be clean and not tattered. 

These troublesome components cause irritating problems when they act up. Malfunctioning fuel injectors can cause poor idling, hard starting, and misfiring, setting off a code. A raw fuel smell may mean you have leaking injectors, resulting in diluted oil. Diluted oil will cause severe damage to your engine. 

Too much return fuel from the injectors will produce low rail pressure and cause the engine to go into limp mode. Worn injectors trigger this problem. Before the situation gets to that, when you notice the other symptoms of malfunctioning injectors, we will function test them and replace those causing you difficulties.
