Squeaking Brakes

A common complaint with Acura RDX owners is brake noise. Even after repeated dealer service, the problem doesn’t go away. Noisy brakes usually happen when the brake pads are worn out or the rotors have too much rust or debris.  But in the RDX, the squeaking may occur immediately following replacement. The most frequent owner complaint is constant squeaking when the brakes are applied. Our experience is that the problem is caused by the parts themselves or incorrect installation. Squeaking brakes don’t affect safety but can be annoying.

We will solve your brake noise problem with aftermarket brake pads and rotors installed by professional technicians.

Dim Headlights

Another common owner complaint is dim headlights causing poor night visibility.

Many owners on different Acura forums have complained about barely being able to see the road when using just the low beams. If you have a pre-2016 RDX, newer models have LED headlights, bring it in for the only solution that will fix your visibility problem. We will replace your dim lights for aftermarket replacements at a lower price than factory parts.

Limp Mode

Limp Mode allows you to get to a repair facility in case of a computer failure without needing a tow. That’s the good news. The bad news is that you are inconvenienced, which may put you in a dangerous situation. Sometimes the car will refuse to go over 30 mph while you are on the freeway. Should you experience this, limp on over to the Fremont Foreign auto repair, and we will implement the factory-approved solution at an affordable price.

Turbocharger Failure

A Check Engine light may indicate a turbocharger failure. Turbos live in a problematic environment just downstream of the exhaust manifold, so heat-related failures are a fact of life for their owners. So why do we drive turbocharged cars? If you need more horsepower, you have two choices: Build a bigger engine or turbocharge the one you have. Both will make the power you want, but the turbocharged engine will be lighter. So in these fuel-mileage-conscious times, turbos with their attendant problems will be even more common. Often an RDX turbo problem may be the external turbo actuator that fails. This part controls the boost pressure. When it fails, the engine produces less power and gets worse gas mileage. Many shops will want to replace the entire turbo, an expensive proposition. If the actuator needs to be replaced, we will swap the defective actuator out for a working one.

Rear Main Seal Leak

On the rear of the crankshaft, a rubber seal prevents oil from leaking out of the engine. You will find oil puddles under your vehicle when this part wears out. Replacing the seal in an RDX is an in-depth job. The mechanic must remove the transmission to access the seal. A new seal replaces the worn-out one, and the transmission is replaced. This is a time-consuming and complex job, but you will now have a clean driveway. And you won’t have to worry about low oil levels causing engine damage.

At Fremont Foreign Auto, we have state-licensed and ASE-approved service technicians who perform these procedures frequently. Call us at 510-793-6067 or visit our website to get a quote and book an appointment for any repair you need on your Acura RDX.
