Emeritus at Atherton Court is more than a memory care community specializing in the care of Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia. We pride ourselves in being part of the greater Fremont and Tri-City senior community, as well. We want to see all seniors with memory impairment in our community “safely somewhere,” regardless of whether “somewhere” is with us, or not.
Some family caregivers may choose to keep their loved one in the house that they have lived in for many years. We respect that choice. But, it’s a choice that we encourage families only make with as much information as possible. It’s an undertaking which demands time and patience in many cases. Families who plan and prepare for caring for somebody with dementia, can do so safely and successfully.
Other families may feel that keeping their loved one at home is not the best answer. The house may present too many safety risks. The demands of care may be too much for the family to bear. Or the cost of home health care agencies may be too high. Whatever the case may be, there are resources, to which a family can turn.
Atherton Court is offering to help families plan for their loved one’s future. We are offering complimentary home visits to those who are feeling overwhelmed in the planning process. We are here to be a listening ear, perform a safety check for possible risks within the house, or follow-up after a recent hospitalization. We know that we are not the answer for everybody. But, we are always here to help you find the answer that’s best for you.
