Signage FAQs | I need a sign – how do I get started?—Franklin, TN

Posted in: Industry News

We enjoy the opportunity to help businesses with their signage, and occasionally we’ll find a client who knows exactly what he or she needs. However, the majority of our clients are experts in their respective fields who trust 12-Point SignWorks to provide the expertise needed to make key sign- and design-related recommendations.

As you think about the sign(s) you currently need, consider the following questions:

• What objective do I want the sign to accomplish?
• What is the target audience to which the sign will be directed?
• What information should the sign communicate?
• Have I seen other signs that I like and that I feel were effective in ways that I want my sign to be effective?
• Will my sign be indoors or outdoors?
• What budget and resources can I commit to the sign project?

After considering the answers to these questions, we’ll be better prepared to discuss the options regarding materials choices, sign format, sign restrictions (according to any applicable zoning codes), etc.
We’ll also want to evaluate any prepared artwork that you have on hand. The “best” type of artwork will generally be “line art” or “vector art” that is scalable without loss of resolution. The file format will generally be EPS (encapsulated post script) or sometimes PDF, but even these formats can sometimes contain low-resolution artwork.

We enjoy the opportunity to conduct an in-person consultation in our showroom, and we invite you to stop in to discuss your sign needs with our friendly staff. We look forward to meeting you!
