Fort Myers, FL – Step 2 in Planning Your Landscape Project Budgeting for Beauty

Posted in: Industry News

Peer Landscaping of Fort Myers, FLAt Peer Landscaping of Fort Myers, FL , it’s been our experience that sometimes people are so intimidated by a project that they get paralyzed by it and never even take the first steps towards it. That’s why we’ve created this simple guide to direct your thought process when planning for a landscape design project for your Southwest Florida home. These are the important steps you should take before you start calling landscapers to get requests for proposals for your project.

Once you have created some goals for your yard and garden, it’s time to take your bank account into consideration and decide on your budget range for this project. Nothing is worse than sharing a really gorgeous 3D design with you only to discover you can’t afford that. It’s much better for you to let us know a budget range up front to ensure the proposal we give you will be in line with our finances.

Here’s some considerations you should think about when preparing your budget range:

  • Initial consultation and design creation—Our initial consultation is free, but creation of a specific design for your site takes time, and planning. We use a CAD system (computer aided design) to create a 3D video of your new landscape design and how it will look specifically with your home and yard.
  • Permitting fees—Depending on the scope of your project, you may need to pay for permits or for zoning fees or environmental impact surveys.
  • Site prep—We must prepare your site before we install any plantings. This preparation may include excavating the area to be planted, removing existing plants and debris, and grading and preparing the soil.
  • Cost of materials—Depending on your project’s scope, materials may include concrete, pavers, and other hardscaping materials such as fountains, planting materials such as mulch or stones, enriched soil, fertilizer, and of course trees, plants and shrubs.
  • Cost of Labor—Landscape install can be labor intensive depending on the complexity and size of the project.

As a last consideration, think about whether or not you want to maintain your garden yourself, or want to hire our sister company, Fort Myers Garden Service to take care of your landscape.. What are you willing to pay to not have to do any of the maintenance? Keep in mind, landscape design is an investment in your home that does raise its overall value and curb appeal.
