How Flowers Add a New Dimension To Your Landscape

It’s Bailey with Peer Landscaping of Fort Myers, FL and we are also the owners of Fort Myers Garden Service which is our maintenance company. After we do our installation will follow through with a trained horticulturist and maintain that landscaping. We specialize in landscape renovation projects in the Fort Myers and surrounding Lee County area but today I want to talk about flowers and how awesome they are. And what they can do for your landscape. Are they high maintenance or low-maintenance? I can answer a couple of things today right here.

We have our Blue Daze, which have a bluish purplish tint from a little bit of a distance. Those come back year after year, those are perennial. Although I do like to change those out every two to three years just because they get a little wonky. But they do come back year after year. Now other flowers that we use we will change those out every 6 months. Some clients like them changed out every 3 months and we can do that as well, but I typically recommend going with the annuals that we do every 6 months.

Now Blue Daze is a perennial technically, but we do use it with our annual change out there as well just because it does look so amazing that first year or two. I want to talk a little bit about layering and height. We have an elevation on this property as you’re just entering the resort. You’re down lower and they built this whole property up so now you’re rising up so that gives you a cool effect with the landscaping. As you can see they use many different heights and texture and colors in the landscape. Something that I really enjoyed that they used is the Zoysia Grass and then they use their annuals. Then they used the Crotons and a Variegated Arboricola. They just really really nailed this design, I believe the designers did with all of the levels in the change-outs and also some of our ornamental plants like you know the Crotons and Variegated Arboricola’s.

This Resort changes those out every year to just to keep them looking really good and that’s only for the front plants in the front entrance way.  They will change those out,  the Crotons to change out the Arboricola’s, to match some of the annuals. It’s a great technique as well although it’s kind of a higher maintenance thing but it’s definitely not something you need to do. However, if you’re always looking to be on the edge and always looking for a new look without breaking the budget, you can always keep your foundational plants in your landscape and change out some of your level 1 level 2, and of course all your annual beds.

Now when you’re doing your annual beds, you really want to think about the science behind it. Why do all these communities flowers looks so good but the flowers that you buy at Home Depot or Lowes just aren’t. Something that’s huge is the fertilizer and the soil and the watering. So those are key aspects that we make sure are right for your flowers, that when we install them, that you don’t have to worry about it or stress about it.

Now your first first time setting up the flowers, you might have to invest a little bit more in irrigation, to make sure that those new flower beds that we put in for you are covered and have enough water for those flowers. After that you’re pretty much set up. We can just put in new soil every year and fertilize as we go through our maintenance program. I just cannot say enough about flowers. What flowers can do for your house in Fort Myers is just incredible. Whether you’re in Alva, Fort Myers Bonita Springs or Estero, all of those areas we love to landscape, we love to put in flowers. Whether that’s in your foundational plants or your annuals or any of that we just love flowers. We love landscaping,  we love plants. Give us a call if you’re interested in doing a project here in Fort Myers or any of the surrounding areas of Lee County. We love to do the Landscaping guys, thank you so much!
