Here are the steps that you need to take to get rid of the mold that’s growing on your terrace:
Prepare a Homemade Cleaning Solution
You don’t need any fancy or expensive cleaners to remove the mold. Simply dissolve 1/2 cup of borax and ½ cup of white vinegar in a cup of warm water. Fill up a spray bottle with this cleaning solution or simply keep it in a clean bucket.
Wet the Affected Surface
Use a strong spray or a power nozzle to cover the entire surface that needs to be cleaned with water. Make sure it’s thoroughly wet.
Apply the Cleaning Solution
If you put the solution in a bottle with a spray nozzle, you can spray it directly onto the affected surface. However, if you kept the solution in a bucket, use a sponge to apply it onto the surface.
Let the Surface Soak the Solution
Give the solution a few minutes to soak into the surface. If the mold growth is excessive, you should wait for longer.
Scrub the Surface
Wear a pair of water-resistant rubber gloves, get in a comfortable position, and use a hard-bristle brush to scrub the affected surfaces. Scrub a small area at a time and use circular motions to ensure that you’re cleaning every part of the surface. If the surface seems too dry, dip your brush into the bucket or spray some more liquid onto the surface.
Keep scrubbing the surface until you can see the mold coming off. Make sure to clean every affected area in your terrace or else, the mold will just grow back. Don’t forget to switch arms in between the vigorous cleaning to ensure proper mold removal.
Rinse Off Your Terrace
Use a strong spray to hose off the polished surface. If you followed the directions and scrubbed the affected surface thoroughly, then it should look clean and free of the gunk. Make sure to inspect your terrace during a time of the day when there’s ample sunlight.
Also, make sure that your terrace is completely dry so that the mold doesn’t return. You can also review your cleaning in a week to see if there’s a need for another round.
