All Star Signs assists clients with designing, producing, and installing fully customized channel letters in San Diego, CA. Frequently, our clients are surprised to learn how many options there really exist. While some sign shops might focus on the big two – front and reverse-lit – we offer more options. Here is what you need to know:
Front and Reverse-Lit Channel Letters. We Do Those!
Front-lit letters are the most popular ones. Illumination shines through the fronts, making the brand color shine boldly. Reverse-lit channel letters allow the lighting to shine through the back, which causes the illumination to reflect off the wall. The resulting halo effect surrounds each letter.
Beyond the Standard Choices: Combination Illumination and Open-Faced Signage
Did you know you could combine multiple colors from your corporate palette with added lighting? For example, if your primary brand color is orange, but you have a secondary blue color, we can design the letters to feature bright orange illumination after dark. However, by adding LEDs with a blue tint, we can give the letters a halo effect that uses the secondary color.
Am open-face design is suitable for a company that likes to feature a vintage presentation of its corporate persona. Using neon tubes and a clear polycarbonate cover, we can create the illusion that your sign hearkens back to the 1940s. It is a good choice for clients with a decidedly retro brand look and feel.
Fully Customized Installation Options
Just as we offer you a range of choices for selecting the channel letters that are ideally suited for your company, we do the same for the installation.
Standard installation. The typical channel letter installation is the flush mount. We place front-lit letters flush with the wall and hook up the electrical wiring from behind. For halo-lit letters, we use standoffs. By adjusting the lengths of these standoffs, we can change the strength of the halo.
Backer panel. The backer comes into play when there is damage to the facade or you need a larger decorative presentation. Also, panels work well when the facade color and the brand tone you have selected are too close to allow for a good contrast. Placing a complementing color between the two draws attention to your brand.
Raceway. The raceway is a thin box that contains all the wiring. We paint it in the color of the facade. Using a raceway is a good idea when technicians cannot reach the backs of the letters to hook up the wires.
