OSS stands for One Stop Systems. At the company’s Escondido office, the firm maintains separate driveways for visitors and those delivering products or parts. The safety of visitors, along with their ability to find their way around the location the first time they visit, was of significant concern for the firm’s management team. As a result, they asked us to design, produce, and install a wayfinding sign in Escondido, CA, that would check all the boxes.
A Post and Panel Sign is an Ideal Wayfinding Product
We conducted a site survey to determine the client’s options. There were no driveway gates, which took gate-mounted aluminum signs off the table. The building itself was set back from the road, with a sloped landscape in front of it. A building panel would have to be overly large to provide the wayfinding assistance the client wanted.
Therefore, a post and panel sign that we would install much like a monument sign was the best choice. In addition to being an excellent solution, it is also a durable product that will give the client years of brand-centric message display.
Constructing a Post and Panel Sign with a Wayfinding Emphasis
Our technicians cut two 4″ x 4″ square aluminum posts to size. Next, we cut a panel that would install with U-channels. Made from Dibond, a composite material, we printed the message directly on the facing. It combines the company’s name with its logo. All print colors are strictly taken from the client’s corporate color palette.
At the top of the sign, we printed the address. At the bottom, you will notice arrows pointing right and left for visitors and the receiving dock. The combination of the address and the arrows underscores the wayfinding element of the sign. However, its construction allows it to do double duty as a monument sign.
Other Wayfinding Signage Solutions
We have already discussed the merits of gate-mounted signs, building panels, and post and panel signs. These are not the only options when looking for wayfinding products. Some business clients have had excellent success with installing smaller monument-style signs that label each driveway or entrance. Another option is marking the driveways with vinyl floor decals, which will alert a motorist that they have entered the wrong driveway.
