While the Coast Air Center was working with a contractor to build out the office space and customize the venue, we got a call to take on the design, production, and installation of new channel letters for the San Diego company. This project would involve two sets of face-lit LED channel letters that needed a different installation approach.
Same Color Palette, Different Mounting Technique
The color palette for the project was straightforward. The letters would be dark blue. The logo combined the same color palette with white. Our technicians carefully built these elements that made up the signs and their logo. However, this is where the similarities end.
One sign was installed on the rear entrance. The wall is made up of vertical siding, which meant that our technicians had to mount the pieces so that each featured the same depth. On the front, the siding was installed at an angle. Besides that, the color palette was too similar to the letters.
Therefore, we opted for a raceway mount rather than a flush mount. The raceway is a narrow box that we painted in the same color as the building’s trim. It creates the visual counterpoint the dark blue letters need. At the same time, it does not interfere with the good looks of the white elements.
After placing the electrical wiring inside the box, we mounted it to the facade. Next, we put up the letters. The finished product is impressive, advertises the location of Coast Air, and works well with the overall visual aesthetics of the structure. Best of all, there is room for the company to expand its exterior signage if they so desire.
