Visit the Palomar College South Education Center at 11111 Rancho Bernardo Road. Featuring 110,000 square feet of space for learners and faculty, this facility offers STEAM-centered academics and support services for students. Swinerton Incorporated at 16798 West Bernardo Drive is the builder that oversaw the project. As the building process neared completion, Swinerton contacted All Star Signs, Inc. to handle the building and interior signage package in San Diego, CA.
Signage Suite Readies a New Campus for Students
We worked with the builder to receive the specs that the school’s administration was looking to incorporate in its overall setup. From there, we prepared three distinct signage products.
ADA wayfinding signs. We used acrylic and metal to construct these signs. Because they feature Braille II writing, they must be durable enough to touch. Therefore, they must also be easy to clean. Similarly, we used the contrast colors of black and white to underscore the names of the venues that the markers identify.
Interior metal lettering. We suspended the lettering from the ceiling, which gives the help desk a contemporary look and feel. Because we did so with plenty of room between the elements and the back wall, there is a shadow display that repeats the name. The presentation is fun and ideally suited for this modern campus.
Exterior metal letters. These metal letters spell out the facility’s name. They contrast subtly from the sand-colored stone exterior. Depending on your view of the style elements, you will notice a play of light that reflects off some surfaces. It creates an attractive visual counterpoint. The second set of letters installs on a panel for a different wall surface.
Do Not Leave ADA Compliance to Chance
The Americans with Disabilities Act spells out the rules for compliant signage. For example, did you know that you have to meet a specific contrast ratio between the colors for the sign to be considered adequate? Similarly, there are font and sizing requirements of the style elements.
All Star Signs, Inc. routinely works with business owners who require new or upgraded signage. Many are not aware of the details surrounding the ADA requirements. If needed, we can help you outfit a new venue, replace current signs, or add to the ones you already have. Most importantly, we gladly do a compliance check to ensure that you have all the required signage products in position.
