Kitchen Remodeling – DIY Strategy Guide | Chapter 2 – Needs

The second step in the process is identifying what is a need and what is a want.  You may think you need all the amenities but you’ll probably realize later that everything doesn’t fit into the budget for most people.  Ask yourself the follow questions to get a feel for what are the most important things for you when considering want, need and budget.

  • Do I need expensive cabinets or are cheaper ones okay that still look great?
  • Do you need as island in the middle of the kitchen, or could space be better used without having to build anything?
  • Do you need to have granite countertops or would you consider other options?
  • Do you need tile flooring, heated from below, or would linoleum suffice?
  • Do you need top of the line appliances, or will the middle grade option work for you?
  • Do you need lots of lighting and drop lights or would a few low energy bulbs be okay with your lifestyle?
  • Do you want to entertain in your kitchen, or will it be more of a place of preparation and the entertaining will be done in another room?

These are just a few considerations to take into account.  If you would like help making any of your decisions or need help with other ideas contact us today and we’ll be happy to assist you.
