Kitchen Remodeling – DIY Strategy Guide | Chapter 1 – Wants
The first step in the process when you’re thinking about remodeling your kitchen is the WANTS stage. This is the fun part where you get to brain storm, imagine and dream up all the possibilities of what your dream kitchen could look like. Of course reality will set in when you get to chapters 2 and 3, when we talk about needs and budget. But, for now, go ahead and dream big.
There are many different elements to consider when creating your kitchen. Do you want an island or not; small stove or big; granite or marble? It may even be overwhelming. To help you, we’ve provided a short list of questions for you to ask yourself. Each question addresses one of the more major components in a kitchen. You may be remodeling your entire kitchen and will answer all these questions, and some may just need to update certain areas of your kitchen. Hopefully this list helps you get started.
- Do you want an island in your kitchen? Do you want to have bar stool chairs at the counter?
- Do you want a lot of windows to bring in the natural light?
- Do you want to have a skylight?
- Do you want to have a garbage disposal? Trash compactor? Hot water spout?
- Do you want 4, 6 or even 8 burners on your stove? Do you want gas or electric?
- Do you want sub zero refrigerators?
- Do you want granite countertops? Marble perhaps?
- What type and color cabinets do you want?
- Do you want to be able to grow plants, herbs and/or spices in your kitchen?
