If you have an excellent looking vinyl car wrap, you potentially want it to appear like new as long as you can. These easy and practical details may make it simple to keep that new, fresh appearance.

The Do’s

  1. You should hand wash vinyl graphic applications using a combination of clean water and mild detergent. Pressure washing isn’t advised as it may cause the vinyl wrap to lift around its corners and degrade its face film. As this happens, the graphics will lose luster, crack, fade, and peel away from their substrate.
  2. Test all cleaning solutions on a tiny part of the vinyl graphic prior to use. Even with products made for washing cars, it still is good practice to test upon a tiny space. If you can, use products which are easy on your vehicle vinyl, as well as the environment.
  3. You should always read warning labels on the vehicle care products for correct instructions on safety.
  4. Wash your car from the top down using soapy water, then rinse using clean water. It’ll allow contaminants and dirt to run off of the vinyl. A grit free, clean bucket, standard garden hose and nozzle, mild soap such as Joy or Dove, soft microfiber cloths or sponges are all that’s necessary.
  5. Allow the car to air dry or you can dry off using a microfiber cloth. If time permits, allow the car to air dry and touch up using soft cloth for spots. If your car wrap has been dried by hand, make certain that you use light pressure, as well as microfiber, clean towels.

The Don’ts

  1. Don’t permit fuels or additional corrosive substances to remain in contact with vinyl. Clean spills as soon as you can.
  2. Don’t apply carnauba-based wax or for that matter, any kind of polish, wax, carbon fiber or matte over the vinyl graphics.
  3. Don’t use pressure washing or mechanical brushes on vehicle vinyls. Brushes may cause graphics to scratch the surface or peel or chip around the edges.
