Our most recent project was remodeling a master bathroom in a residential home in Castro Valley, CA.  The bathroom had an existing fiberglass insert shower unit which made the shower very small.  We removed the insert and put in new tile which added 4 inches to the shower space.  We built a niche for shampoo, soap and conditioner so that a shower caddy does not need to be used.  We raised the shower head for a better flow when showering and added all new copper plumbing.  At the request of the owner, we added a foot niche for shaving legs! The tiles chosen were a mosaic glass tile in 5/8 inch squares on a 12 x 12 sheet, a linear glass tile and a 6” x 24” plank that replicates birch hardwood flooring.   The merging of the three tiles was ideal and provided a modern looking new shower that can be seen through the clear glass shower door. The colors chosen were light blues, greens and grays as the bathroom is relatively small.  The vanity was the same as before and the new lighting provides improved brightness in the bathroom.  An exhaust fan was installed to keep the bathroom clear from steam as the owner did not previously have one installed.  The floor tile is 7” x 7” Italian porcelain in a cream color with the stone look.  The final result is a beautiful bathroom with a refreshingly modern feel and look that maximized the space provided.
