I recently attended the Sign World annual conference in Las Vegas, met with many Sign World owners as well as many Vendors from across North America. The conference lasted four days and it was information packed with many great presentations throughout the course of the weekend. Of particular interest to myself was realizing how an important part the internet has to play in building a successful business today. There seems to be so many companies all trying to get everyone’s business with so many offers and so many ways to network, then realizing how search engine optimization works and keeping your site in the top ten or the first page. It really is a changed world out there in the way we market our business, staying current and attending trade shows is just one way to keep ahead of the curve. Other presentations were also very good, one in particular was Exit Strategy. Preparing your business for sale now for the future, it described what a healthy business looked like with all of the proper accounting procedures, bookwork, etc in place. They also spoke about how much more your business would sell for in the future if everything was clean, no back door deals, using the Cyrious software to stay on top of your actual numbers each and every day, period, quarter and year. I did have a bit of fun while I attended the convention, Las Vegas is known for a place of entertainment and high rollers, let’s just say “ I broke even” at least that is what I told my wife when I returned home.
