Why Directional Signs Are Needed In Hospitals
Picture a doctor or nurse who just transferred from a different location and who is at the hospital for their first day of work. A critical case comes in, and the medical staff need to rush to grab what equipment they’ll need and then to the operating room immediately.
While the layout of many hospitals is similar enough that they may be able to easily get where they need, having proper directional signs could help them cut a minute or two off the time it would otherwise take; a minute or two can sometimes mean the difference between someone living and dying.
And that’s besides the better chance of someone’s loved ones being able to reach the right room to be there with them in their final moments as they pass.
Though those are extreme examples, the fact remains: directional signs are vital for hospitals.
Indoor Directional Hospital Signs
There are two different types of directional signs needed inside hospitals.
The first is the large one most commonly found near elevators or in main hallways. This lists numerous different places, sometimes taking up half the wall, and provides an arrow indicating which direction to go to get to each listed place.
The second is the hanging signs attached to the ceiling with only a few places listed, again having an arrow for each one.
In either case, the lettering must be clear, with an easy-to-read font, and we also like to ensure our wall mounted signs in particular are easy to clean and are not affected by water, or even the projectile vomiting some patients might be afflicted with!
Outdoor Directional Hospital Signs
Outdoor signs are just as important as the indoor ones, indicating information such as where the visitor parking is, where the main entrance is, etc.
Insignia Signs & Wraps makes outdoor signs capable of withstanding the weather. We also have lighted LED options, which are essential for allowing people to read the signs at night, which can be a popular time for people to go to a hospital.
However, we go even further and take care of any permits needed on top of installing the signs ourselves. When, in the future, your sign needs repaired due to storm damage or any other reason, we even do repair work.
Other Signs Hospitals Need
As a hospital, you’ll need more than only directional signs; your building will require ADA signs, as one example.
Other signs you may want include lobby signs, wall murals, door signs, and other things. Insignia Signs & Wraps has all these things covered for you and more. Look around on our site or give us a call for a full list.
