UnityPoint Health, the Trinity Rock Island campus in Rock Island, IL just put on an addition. As with most additions, in the beginning stages and until the decorating begins, the walls were bare and needed some dressing.
Riverbend Signworks, in conjunction with Paragon Interiors, both located in Davenport, IA, created a unique and personal solution to a blank wall located right outside of the hospital cafeteria. This area is a high traffic walkway and clearly needed an artistic piece that would make people stop and admire.
The project is simple in design and materials, yet gives the appearance of being a pain staking feat to imagine, create and install. The panels are clear acrylic with an inlaid, random pattern of white lines. The digital scene-scape is printed on clear vinyl and adhered to the back of the panels. The panels are then mounted on chrome metal standoffs to give the entire project some added depth and dimension. The broken up spacing and pairing of the panels makes the whole project easy on the eyes.
The final touch is the plaque identifying the local companies and artists who contributed to the project. In total, it was a collaboration of local efforts to create a warm, inviting environment in a place people tend to try and avoid. However, employees, patients and visitors deserve a little solitude throughout the day.
