The race started in 1983 and has grown ever since, attracting vintage car enthusiasts from across the country. So where do we, a sign company, come into the picture? Stickers. Lots of stickers.
We're located in the Quad Cities of Iowa, and our client is located in Chattanooga, TN. But this wasn't a problem at all. We work with local businesses as well as businesses across the United States. We maintain contact over the phone and with e-mail, communicating throughout the entire process.
The only thing that was different about this project, opposed to a local project, is we had to get the material shipped down to the location, instead of picking it up like we normally would. The advantage to picking up materials ourselves is we can verify that we have the right material. For example, for this project - stickers and decal signs that were being placed on vintage and antique automobiles - we needed to use a special material. We needed to make sure the decals would stay on the cars at the event, but also would remove easily so as not to damage the vehicles. We selected a material from 3M, called IJ40 (designed for fleet graphics). We made sure to triple check we had the correct material when ordering, since we weren't able to pick out the material by hand.
This is a project that we won't soon forget, mainly because of the number of stickers and decal signs we printed. We made over 700 stickers, all printed on our high resolution HP-printer, and then cut out on our Graphtec cutter. In the image above you can see the first sheets being printed.
