Slabjack NW has worked with the Riveting Wraps team since 2014 to promote their concrete raising and leveling business with vehicle graphics. Their box truck fleet works hard to improve surfaces across the Puget Sound, and our task was to create graphics that could keep up with their rising business.
We started with a discovery session to identify the client's need and their vehicle information. From this solid foundation we can then create a commercial box truck design that fits both the truck and client's needs perfectly. For Slabjack our primary goal was viewer education; to answer the question, what is slabjacking? The approach they wanted was a straight-forward answer to this essential question.
To meet the project objectives a box truck lettering package was created for the client. Lettering decals, or spot graphics, are when the vinyl is cut to the shape of graphic instead of covering the entire area; incorporating the vehicle color into the design. Because the trucks were already painted in brand colors, this was a perfect solution.
From the strong logo and brand colors, to incorporating a fair amount of text, this project was all about establishing hierarchy. While many commercial vehicle graphics fall victim to the too-much-text monster, making them look more like instructional manuals than ads, our design approach is all about clear communication. We achieve this through working closely with our clients and employing smart design to streamline the message and create a hierarchy of information for the viewer.
