Central air requires the use of ducts, which are large passageways for air to move through. These ducts allow air to flow through your entire home and regulate the temperature throughout, rather than in just one room.
The first step in the install process is to pour a small concrete pad for the new unit to sit on, directly outside of your home. Next, the indoor component, called an evaporator coil, is installed and lines for refrigerant are run from the outdoor unit to this coil.
Once this is complete, the unit is tested to ensure it’s operating correctly and if so, your new system is ready for use. If you’re replacing an existing unit, the ductwork in place can likely be used.
