Antioch, CA – Keep a Cleaner House w/ Head Lice Prevention – Maid Service Tips

SYNOPSIS:

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Are your children scratching their heads often?

Parents everywhere are united in their disdain for the vermin that is head lice. It is a tiny insect which infects the scalp and lives among the hair. It feeds on blood and leaves scratchy splotches behind. Children often catch it in school from their peers and spread it in the house.

If your children are going to go to a summer camp or school is starting soon, then here are the precautions to take:

Cut Hair Short

Cutting your children’s hair short is an excellent way to prevent head lice. Lice live near the roots and long hair serves as better protection for them. Long hair hides them from detection and keeps them safe from shampoos. Short hair makes it harder for lice to stay hidden.

Comb Regularly

Combing your children’s hair with lice combs will catch any random lice or eggs. You can do this at the end of the week after their bath and any lice and nits will be easy to catch.

Use Separate Combs

Lice transfer from person to person due to contamination of common items. If you suspect any of your children to have head lice, then separate their combs and other accessories such as hair clips, hats, and ear buds.

Lice can leave their eggs on these items and these can get carried on to your other children.

Avoiding Head Contact

If your children or their friends have lice then head contact should be strictly off limits. Children often bring their heads close together during play time.  This is not acceptable.

Tell your children to avoid hugs or touching shoulders or resting heads on other’s shoulders since doing so can cause lice to spread. If your children have long hair then tie them in pony tails so hair contact is minimal.

Separate Clothing

Separate the clothing of your infected child from others in the house. Clothes like coats, hats, scarves, shirts, and head socks catch lice eggs. These can be left on clothing racks or hooks and transmitted to others.

This should also be extended to toiletries. Infected children should also be provided their own towels and hanged apart from the rest.

Ensure Hygiene

Lice infestations also partly arise from poor hygiene. Ensure your children follow proper bathing routines. Regular bathing can remove most eggs before they hatch. It makes it easier to remove any lice before they proliferate.

Clean Beds Regularly

Change and wash the bed covers, pillow covers, and blankets of your children upon spotting any lice. Check them for signs of any lice or eggs. Regular replacement of sheets and covers can go a long way in preventing lice infections.

Conclusion

Regular housekeeping and general cleanliness can greatly reduce chances of lice infections. Consistent cleaning will ensure removal of any eggs and larvae. Contact Molly Maid for the best professional maids to aid you in your endeavour of a lice-free house and family.
