AC Constantly Running But Not CoolingIf your air conditioner works properly, it goes through a cycling process. The cycles occur every 15 to 20 minutes when the AC unit kicks on and blows cool air through vents in the home until it reaches the appropriate temperature or the thermostat setting. If the air conditioner constantly runs but the house does not cool down, it is cause for concern. Not only does the sweltering heat cause discomfort, but it’s also a sign of a serious problem with the AC unit.

Take action at the first sign of trouble. You deserve the cool comfort the AC provides inside the home when outside temperatures soar to the highest numbers of the year.

Some of the most common reasons why the AC may not properly cycle or put out cool air include:

  • Clogged Air Filter: Change the air filters in the AC at least once every six months or more often if necessary. Clogged air filters restrict the flow of air to the registers in your home. It can also lead to poor air quality and health concerns such as difficulty breathing or allergies.
  • Leaking Air Ducts: Cool air travels through air ducts within the walls of your home. If the ductwork becomes loose due to worn-out seals or loose insulation, air can leak. This makes it difficult to reach desired temperatures in the home.
  • Low Refrigerant Levels: An AC unit that is low on refrigerant will not perform at peak levels. You may experience low refrigerant levels due to a leak in the coils. It is best to leave this problem to professionals who can properly diagnose and repair the issue.

No matter what causes your AC unit to run but not put out cool air, the experts here can help resolve the issue and help cool your home again. Give us a call to learn what we can do for you.
