Greenwood, AR – HVAC Expert Shares Tips for Improving Indoor Air Quality

BY: Your Name, Your Business

Poor indoor air quality affects everyone who breathes in the air. Tobacco smoke, household cleaners, and pesticides are some of the most common causes of poor indoor air quality. These allergens cause breathing problems, headaches, nausea, coughing, asthma-like symptoms, and allergies, among others. While avoiding all contaminants is virtually impossible, we can minimize them in our homes to keep the air fresh, crisp, and clean. Put the five tips below to use to create better indoor air quality in your place.

1- Invest in a Home Air Purifier

More households use home air purifiers today than ever before. An air purifier captures and eliminates airborne contaminants inside the home, helping everyone breathe better and experience fewer signs and symptoms of illness. Whole-house air purifiers cost anywhere from a couple of hundred bucks to a few thousand, depending on the features that you want.

2- Change the A/C Filters

A/C filters collect dirt, dust, and other particles and keep them out of the air. When the filter gets dirty, these particles spread back into the air, where your household is at risk. The solution is to keep the A/C filters clean. Change filters at least once every six months for best results.

3- House Plants

House plants do more than create a serene environment in the home: they also freshen the air. If you want to breathe cleaner, fresher air, add a few house plants to the mix.

4- Clean the Floors

Cleaning the entire home is obviously important, but the floors deserve special attention since pollen, allergens, and other pollutants collect here and spread through the air as people walk. Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors at least once a week or more often in heavy traffic areas.

5- Maintain the HVAC System

A poorly maintained HVAC system will not perform efficiently. Poor maintenance also causes the unit to work harder than it should,  minimizing its life expectancy. And, of course, poorly maintained HVAC systems are more likely to cause poor indoor air quality. The A/C is a hotspot for mold growth and other pollutants that regular professional service can help avoid.
