Winter Park, FL – Excessive Drinking Is Not A Fertility Friendly Diet

Posted in: Special Offer

Recent medical studies show that drinking more than three ounces of alcohol a day can have negative effects on the male reproductive system. It depends on the kind of alcohol that is consumed. For example, one bottle of beer or one glass of wine contains half an ounce of alcohol; excessive amounts of drinking can harm the body and cause problems in a man’s sexual health and fertility.

Alcohol contains toxins that harm the sperm making cells in the testicles. This may cause a decline in sperm quality and lead to fertility issues. Also, alcohol may hinder liver function and have a rise in estrogen levels, which will mess with hormone levels and sperm development. Chronic drinking can cause testicular atrophy – which leads to low libido and affects sexual performance.

The toxicity of consuming excessive alcohol can also reduce sperm density and/or sperm count. The volume of a single ejaculate is around 3 millilitres with around 130 million sperm cells per millilitre. Alcohol can cause a significant reduction in these figures and alcoholic drinks may also cause mutations in sperm size, shape, tail, motility.

Drinking alcohol in excess is not a good idea because it may cause many serious problems in both male and female fertility and conceiving. Try to limit your drinks to a couple times per week, or cut them out completely. Switching to less caffeinated drinks and limiting the amount of toxins in your everyday routine is very important for conceiving, especially for men! Having healthy sperm is 50% of the requirement!
