Monument Sign For Draper and Kramer Property Management in Palatine, IL

The Sign Authority, Inc., located in Wheaton, IL recently completed the monument sign for Draper and Kramer property management. Draper and Kramer are leaders in real estate and property management. They offer award winning living spaces for rental communities all around Chicago and the Chicago suburbs. Draper and Kramer has been renovating The Clayson, apartment buildings, located in Palatine, IL. Each building inside and out, has been receiving a much needed “face lift” The monument sign you see in the photo above is just a portion of the new signage we have provided for the complex. Initially, we were provided architectural drawings for this monument sign, but we did make some minor adjustments. A site survey was needed to make sure the location of the sign was appropriate for visibility and set back requirements from the Village of Palatine. The Sign Authority worked with the village to procure all the necessary permits to begin working on this project.

The monument sign is constructed with aluminum, and installed on a concrete pad. This is a very nice option for a monument sign, because it can save thousands of dollars by not including a masonry base. The sign is internally illuminated with LED lights that illuminate the push through acrylic on “THE CLAYSON” portion of the sign. To create further visual interest, the “C” logo on the higher section of the sign was routed out with “show through” acrylic. A lot of people ask the difference between show through and push through acrylic faces. With push through acrylic, the logo is litterally pushing through the cut out hole in the sign face.  If you look at this photo on the left, the logo almost looks like it’s floating on top of the panel. We can create different effects by painting the acrylic edges the same color as the face so the sign looks face lit. We can leave the edges clear or white to create an edge lit affect.

On the other hand, show through acrylic is created by routing out the logo or letter just like we did in the push through acrylic, but this time we don’t push the acrylic through the hole. We use a thin flat piece of acrylic or polystyrene, and show the light through the material. Take a look at this photo on the right. See the difference?
