Naperville, IL Dimensional Letters and Logo Signs For HistoGeneX

The Sign Authority, located in Wheaton, IL recently fabricated and installed this dimensional logo sign for HistoGeneX in Naperville, IL. We used custom painted flat cut acrylic for the logo with 1/2″ stand-offs to create shadows and dimension on the logo. We used ready to apply vinyl lettering for the mission statement below the logo. This process creates a unique custom look for the client by using different planes on the wall. Using ready to apply vinyl for the mission statement also saves the client money. Vinyl is less expensive than acrylic and looks like the walls were custom painted!. Flat cut acrylic comes in a variety of thicknesses and finishes. Acrylic is less expensive than metal, but still looks amazing!

Take a look at the lobby sign we created for HistoGeneX as part of this job. Instead of metal letters we fabricated the logo with flat cut acrylic and laminated the face with a brushed aluminum finish. At first glance these letters look like metal!

Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with metal letters and logos. They look amazing, but if you are on a budget, flat cut acrylic with a metal laminate on the face is a great solution! Laminated flat cut acrylic logos and letters come in a variety of finishes. You can choose from many core colors and mix and match with the laminate face. 

What is a metal laminate? We use .030 solid metal sheets of aluminum that have been treated to provide your desired finish. These sheets are then laminated onto your choice of one of 25 acrylic colors. The Bern-Lok lamination process is used to adhere the metal sheets to the substrate. This process is proprietary to Gemini using a combination of heat, high pressure, and chemical bonding. Once the sheets are laminated, they are router cut using precision CNC equipment to provide the best mechanical cut possible.
