Acrylic Building Sign – Wheaton, IL

The Sign Authority recently designed and installed a new custom acrylic logo sign for the Youth For Christ organization in Wheaton, IL. They were limited by a very small area in which to add signage, but were looking for something with a more updated look than a simple door plaque.

After considering our client’s unique requirements, we decided that acrylic would be the best material for the job. The sign needed to be located next to the door, leaving it to be mounted atop the historic bricks surrounding it. The sign was cut from a sturdy, 3/4 inch clear acrylic, allowing the original white brick work to show through and serve as the backdrop for the sign. To make sure we didn’t damage the architecture during installation, a brushed aluminum 5/8 inch stand off system was used, mounted with studs set in the cement between the bricks.

The logo and organization name were flat cut from 1/4 inch colored acrylic, which was then attached to the sign face. Because of the stand offs, there is a space between the mounting surface and the background acrylic, giving it an even greater feeling of depth due to the shadows being produced by the top layer of acrylic. Between the polished look of the aluminum stand offs and the clean acrylic design, we were able to provide Youth For Christ with a super sleek new sign to direct people to their door.
