Walnut Creek, CA – Are Float Tanks Safe? – Floating FAQ

Posted in: Industry News

Float tanks for most healthy adults can be used safely, but not for those under 16, or those with some medical conditions. You should not use a float tank immediately after rashing, or when the high salt level causes discomfort if you are sunburnt. If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you should (and in a commercial floating tank will not be allowed to) not use a float tank. Only those aged 16 and over are allowed to use industry practice.

If you have the following conditions, it is not recommended that you float:

  • Epilepsy
  • Kidney disease
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • All infectious diseases including (and 14 days following) diarrhoea and gastroenteritis
  • Open wounds or skin ulcers.

What is FloatingBefore use, the facility teaches you how to open and close the door from within the tank. Many people prefer to open and close the door when they’re relaxed. The internal call warning and light are supplied to each unit. You are always going to get out of the bath. There are safeguards that normally allow the health of all citizens to be controlled without violating their privacy. You can sit on the floor if you fall asleep due to the water blast. If the salt water is in your eyes, some discomfort may occur. It is extremely unlikely that you will drown in a float tank.

Do any side effects exist?

After a float session, users can experience an increased sense of smell, sound and light. Nausea will occur the first time. Skin should not wrinkle because epsom salts have an emollient effect.

Is it safe for pregnant women?

Yes, float tanks can be used by pregnant women. Float during pregnant helps the body and back (and feet!) to avoid the additional weight of the child. This promotes good health, a wonderful feeling of well-being, and can lead to all the pain and distress usually related to pregnancy. The environment creates increased sensitivity and connection with the baby for many mothers and some report a profound “glory” experience of floating in a calm, warm and secure environment.

Does drowning happens in a Float Tank?

While it is possible to drown in every body of freshwater, tanks containing high salt are much healthier than many of the other water bodies. You can not sink into a float tank and you have to make a conscious effort to turn on your side or try to float down. Most people sleep peacefully during the trip.

Cleanliness and Sanitation

Bacteria do not usually grow in most salty (saline) water. There should also be the following measures to ensure that sanitation is maintained: before accessing the tank all customers can wash. After float sessions, the whole salt water solution should be drained. Using the ultraviolet light and bromine or chlorine, vessels shall be disinfected based on the size of the tank. The tank’s interior coating is periodically manually swept.
