Using Labels in the Laser Printer

This article is to warn laser printer users on the possible defects in label paper. Most people know that sheets of label paper are relatively expensive (.10 to .15 cents each). Many users want to use all the labels on each sheet. If all the labels are not used on the first run through the laser printer, people tend to run the sheet through a second time. Most of the time this works just fine.

However, we at Laser Printer Resource receive numerous calls every week about a stuck label in their fuser or toner cartridge. Inevitably when the user is asked, he or she states that they have put the label paper through at least twice. When labels are run through more than once, the adhesive becomes loosened and labels can come off inside the printer. At this point the client will request a service call which is $99.95 for black and white laser printers, plus parts if needed. Many times the fuser is ruined and could cost up to $300.00 to replace. So if you are using labels in your laser printer please keep in mind that saving a few cents could cost you hundreds of dollars.
