Laser Printer Tips | Many Printers: One Toner

Posted in: Client Examples

A great way to plan ahead for ones business needs is to make sure to keep one or two extra laser toner cartridges on the shelf. Not only will those cartridges be available for immediate use should a big printing job come up, they can help to diagnose your printer’s problems!

We’ve all had it happen. You pop a new or freshly remanufactured cartridge into your printer and find that, oh no! Now your pages have black streaks all over the pages, and it’s time to call Laser Printer Resource to fix the printer. While our experienced technicians are happy to service your printer, your printer may not be the problem.

It’s true: even OEM (original equipment manufactured) toner cartridges can be defective. If you have an extra cartridge on the shelf, put that cartridge in! If your printer prints out beautiful crisp pages, you know that the toner, not the printer, was the problem. Keeping two extra toner cartridges on the shelf is an easy way to diagnose your printer yourself!

Some people may be hesitant to buy extra toner cartridges because they have an older printer model. Although “old reliable” works fine now, they don’t want to buy extra toner in case it becomes unfixable. Sometimes, their printer models have even been discontinued by the original manufacturer.

However, oftentimes when a company discontinues the production of one printer, it makes another that can use the same type of toner. Companies recognize that many of their customers are long-term planners, and they try to accommodate their needs.

One of the best examples of this is the HP LaserJet 15A or 15X black print cartridge, the C7115X, toner, which can work in Hewlett-Packard’s 1000, 1005W, 1200, 1200n, 1200se, 1220, 1220se, 3300, 3300mfp, 3310, 3320, 3320mfp, 3320n mfp, 3330mfp and 3380 models!

These printers range from simple monochrome business or home office printers, such as the cost-effective HP 1000 series to the sleek little multi-function HP 1220, which can print, copy, or scan. Both of these models have been discontinued by Hewlett-Package.

But their toner is still useful! Later models, such as the HP 3300 and 3380, use the C7115X toner cartridge. Not only that, many of these models have such features more color-printing, color-scanning, and faster printing. Using the same old toner, you can get even more features. Best of all, remanufacturers have perfected the art of recycling the 15X toner. Its reliability is easily comparable to that of OEM toner cartridges.

The wide-ranging capability of all these printers makes it possible to have multiple printers in the office that all use the same toner. Steam-lining your purchasing and simplifying your employees tasks by having the same type of toner for each machine is just another way to increase your business efficiency!

If you have any questions about what machines your toner is compatible with and how much toner you should keep on the shelf, give us a call at Laser Printer Resource: 1-877-933-3366. You might just find that one toner will work for many printers!
