Illuminated Sign

We love every sign we put up  but every now and then you run across a special project. The illuminated signs we recently installed at Julien Grenier Salon & Aesthetics is one of those projects

After 20 years in Yaletown, Julien Grenier decided to relocate his business to West Broadway and set out to create one of Vancouver’s premier salons. We were excited to be part of Julien’s dream.

We initially designed a beautiful halo style sign than spanned the two columns at the front of the building but even though we met all of the sign bylaws, we found out when we submitted our permits that the building had its own zoning.  To make matters worse, the canopy had been installed where the signs were supposed to be attached.

At this point we were faced with a building that had special zoning that was impossible to comply with.  We worked with the architect who in turn worked with the city planners to find a solution that acceptable to both the city and the salon. After months of back and forth we ended up with the signs you see above.

The style of backlit sign we settled on is known as a push thru. It starts with a standard aluminum sign box but rather than having a clear acrylic face, the letters are routed out and acrylic is actually pushed through the face of the sign to create a very special look.

If you’re looking for a wonderful salon experience, you’ve got to visit Julien and his team at 1062 W. Broadway in Vancouver.

Impact! Sign and Graphics is a full service sign company serving Vancouver and the lower mainland.  We specialize in wide format printing including vehicle and window graphics as well as development and other exterior signs.
