Course Requirements

While there are no prerequisites for our CCW basic training class, there are prerequisites to become certified as a CCW citizen. The Arizona Department of Safety says you must be at least 21 years old, a lawful resident or citizen of the U.S., and submit to a criminal background check.

The background check must find that you have no felony convictions, not be a prohibited possessor, have no domestic violence convictions, and not be a substance abuser. If you have any of these on your record, you are still able to take our CCW 1 class and learn what it takes to be certified, but the Department of Safety will not certify you as a CCW citizen.

CCW 1: Basic Concealed Carry Weapon

Our Basic CCW training class is a 4-hour non-shooting class that is designed to give you all the knowledge you need to successfully be certified by the Arizona Department of Safety as a CCW citizen. Topics that are covered include gun safety and responsibilities as well as the basics of using force and the laws surrounding CCW.

Secondary topics in this class include understanding how to interact with law enforcement as a CCW citizen and your rights as well as navigating violent encounters and their aftermath. You should bring a printed CCW application and a black ink pen to this class.

CCW 2: Concealed Carry Weapon

The second class in our CCW basics training courses is a practical knowledge course. It is also a non-shooting class with a focus on judgemental and legal use of force. Learning objectives in this class include understanding the legal use of force, experience stress induced training, understand the shoot/no-shoot decision, and develop a home and personal protection plan.

This class uses the simulator experience to help with stress induced training and the pressure you can find in a scenario.

Every Day Carry Principles

Our final course in CCW basic training is meant for those who are already certified. This interactive class will expose you to the best carry practices for the firearm of your choice as well as techniques for defense, retreival, and shooting.

This class takes place completely on the range and is great for shooters of any level including seasoned CCW citizens. You must have a valid CCW permit and have completed Pistol 300 to take this class.
