Scottsdale, AZ – Reviewing Our Family & Youth Gun / Firearm Training Classes

Posted in: Industry News

When kids move out of the house it brings peace of mind to know that they will be safe and can take care of themselves. That’s why we offer family & youth firearm training classes. These classes are specifically catered for family units to learn together. Parents can learn how to best take the role of teaching kids firearm safety practices, and kids can safely learn how to use a firearm.

Each class requires the child to be at least 6 years old and accompanied by a parent. These classes are specifically designed for the parent-child pair interaction. Check out the reviews of each of our classes and find the one that’s right for you and your child.

Family Firearm Safety

The first class in our family & youth firearm classes is the family firearm safety class. In this course families will learn about the basic firearm safety practices such as gun handling and storage of firearms. This course is very similar to our adult class on firearm basics but is meant for children to be able to learn and understand as well.

The all-classroom course time allows our instructors to truly personalize the class and speak with each individual family about their firearm safety learning needs. Along with the safe handling and storage of firearms, students will learn how to navigate finding a gun in someone else’s home.

Youth Introduction to Firearms

The second of our 3 youth & family firearm classes is more active. It is designed as an introduction for kids who have no shooting experience, but come from a family that has been on the range. Starting with a .22 caliber rifle, kids will begin to learn the basic techniques of shooting in live-fire range exercises.

Of course, as a youth & family class it’s not all about the kids. In this course parents are coached on how to make the most of range time with their child and ensure their safety. Sometimes it can be hard to enforce safety procedures on the chaotic range, so best practices on how to do this with your child without ruining the fun are also taught. During the live-fire practice time on the range, parents are encouraged to practice these skills with their child as it’s a controlled environment. Each child must have a parent student counterpart in this class.

Refuse to be a Victim

Our last course in the youth & family firearm series is Refuse to be a Victim. This course is all about crime prevention and making sure that kids and parents never need to use their self-defense techniques. Prevention strategies include understanding criminal psychology, automobile crimes, and cyber crimes.

This is a unique seminar because it is completely catered to the needs of the student in each class. While there are common weaknesses and preparedness strategies that are discussed, each student can bring their own experience, questions, and objectives to the class and be sure to discuss those as well. Some general strategies that are taught include home security, cyber safety, using personal safety devices, and carjack avoidance techniques.
