Signage Education – Intermediate vs High Performance Vinyl?

Posted in: Industry News

Many signage job still require vinyl to some substrate such as banners, aluminum, wood, metal, PVC, acrylic and assorted other materials.  The discussion about use of the sign will help determine the proper vinyl for the sign and budget.  The intermediate vinyls are more affordable.  The High Performance vinyl generally allows more colors to be available.  The intermediate vinyl generally speaking is glossier.  It is usually a 3.0 mil calendared vinyl withi around 4-6 years of durability. it is great for exterior or interior signs.  Most of the time ii is thermal printable and easy to cut and weed.  The High Performance vinyl usually has a 7 – 9 year outdoor durability.  Some vinyl is thermal printable.  The vinyl has excellent conformability for curves and rivets. The vinyl has better dimensional stabiltiy, further ensuring that no shrinking, strectch, and less movement occurs after final application/bonding.  it is more expensive than intermediate vinyl but well worth the costs for it’s attributes.
