Education – Signage Code Maitland FL

The basic sign code allows:

Only two (2) signs of any type are permitted on or proximate to a single premise or establishment except for establishments fronting on two (2) streets, in which case three (3) signs are authorized.

(b)

Total sign area will not exceed two (2) square feet per linear foot of structure length on improved property. For buildings fronting on two (2) or more streets, an additional one square foot of sign area per linear foot of length of the building side fronting on the other streets is authorized. However, signs must be placed on the side where the frontage is used in determining the authorized sign area.

(c)

For unimproved land areas, or land areas being improved, signs pertaining to that land area will be authorized as in (a) and (b) above except that areas will be computed at the rate of one-half (½) square foot per linear foot of length, but not to exceed one hundred fifty (150) square feet in total sign area. (d)

Signs may project over a private pedestrian walkway provided the lowest point of the bottom edge of the sign is at least nine (9) feet above the walkway.

(e)

Signs facing a residential area (RS-O, RS-1, RS-1A, RS-2, RS-3, RG, RG-A, RG-1, RG-2, RG-3) may not be located nearer than one hundred fifty (150) feet to the nearest portion of the residential area and shall not be illuminated nor shall they exceed two (2) square feet nor shall the bottom edge of the sign be more than six (6) feet above ground level.
