Learn How You Can Build Your Core Using a TRX

Safe and easy core exercises with our trainer from TruHit Fitness1

What’s up, everybody! Thanks for joining me. My name is Kelsey Zebrowski. I am the head trainer at the TruHit Fitness Franchise, and we are in our TRX series. So welcome to episode four, where today I’m going to show you guys how to do some core movements using a TRX.

5 Easy Core Exercise You Can Do with Your TRX Suspension Trainer

Now you want to make sure that it is hanging low. Okay, so sometimes you can anchor it a little higher, that’s really great for a lot of upper body and lower body movements. However, when we use TRX for core, make sure you have a lower hanging stationary point, alright?

So the first movement I want to show you guys today is: feet inside of these TRX handles and you are just going to do a regular plank. So this is just to get your core fired up. You can actually use this as a warm-up movement but it’s a little bit harder than a normal plank, because your feet are off the ground and you’re having to make sure that your hands, your wrists, your elbows, your shoulder blades make a perfectly straight line. That we’re not bending our knees, that we are not rounding down into a cobra stretch, right? So, keep that core nice and tight. Good plank position here.

Now, once you feel strong and comfortable in that plank position, there are so many variations that you can do from this position:

  • The Mountain-Climber

First one is the mountain climber. Very typical of a mountain climber where we are on the ground.

  • The TRX Frogger

We have another movement that we here at TruHit call the TRX Frogger where we are in this high point position. It’s like a frog swimming: we’re coming out to the side, keeping our heads nice and low. It’s really good for those lower cores and our hip flexors.

  • The Knee-Tuck

Another movement we can do here is the typical knee tuck, where we are just tucking in our knees. Nice strong core, again. That works that lower core because we’re engaging our hip flexors.

  • The Pike

And then, last but not least, whenever you are feeling real spicy and hot on this TRX, you can go into a pike. Where our feet are up, we push up, put those hips, keep that core nice and tight, sucking that belly button in the entire time

Try Out These Exercises Yourself!

Alright, everybody! Thank you so much for joining me for a little bit of core on our TRX. I hope that you try it out. If you feel maybe a little uncomfortable trying it on your own, come see us, we’ll be happy to make sure you’re doing it right.
