San Leandro, CA – Piercing Industry News: Piercing Trends For Spring 2023

Posted in: Uncategorized

Everyone loves that fresh piercing feeling, and these days in the world of body mods, a piercing is low on the list of crazy things you can do. Plus, piercings can be a beautiful way to make your look pop. So before you grab another piercing, check out these upcoming trends for the New Year!

Gem Shapes

Those single stud days are long gone, 2023 is bringing change in the form of shapes and sparkles. ‘There’s a lot more teardrop and baguette shaped stones,’ explains Hannah Grimes, Astrid & Miyu’s senior global services manager. ‘We even have one new labret [the flat back stud used for lots of cartilage piercings] with two different shaped stones, which is inspired by Emily Ratajkowski’s engagement ring.’ Meanwhile, Svetlana Hristova, piercing expert at Lark & Berry says that ‘we’ll be adding charms to already existing piercings.’ She says: ‘Adding a charm to your helix, conch or upper lobe hoop will achieve a super modern take on the hoop ear stack. ‘Those who love to stand out from the crowd, will love this trend.’

Constellation piercings

Taking its name from the starry skies, constellation piercings are when multiple piercings are placed sporadically on the ear, usually on the lobe. Svetlana explains: ‘Constellation piercings include holes in unexpected places on the lobe and the flat as a new edition to an already pierced ear. ‘It uses small and dainty earrings, and they’re placed closer than your usual gapping between piercings. ‘Think of it as an intentionally random or misplaced grouping of studs.’

Multiple

‘More is more’ has been the piercing motto for a while now and stacking – when you mix, match and combine lots of earrings together on one ear to create a cohesive look – is a trend that’s here to stay. ‘There’s a huge trend for multiple piercings. Stacked lobes and outer conch stylings will be big this season’ Hannah says, ‘We also have quite a few earring styles that make it look like you have multiple piercings, even if you really just have the one.’ Svetlana says that stacking is for you if you find the constellation style a little too haphazard. She explains: Stacking is a great way to ‘tone down’ the constellation piercing. ‘You can still look cool and edgy but a little more settled. The ear groupings could be in line and can have a mix of studs and hoops, or just one style. ‘It’s a chance to be playful and show off your individuality.’ – Metro UK –

Snakebites

A snakebite piercing consists of two piercings on your lower lip, placed near the corners of your mouth. It gets its name from the visual effect it creates, similar to having snake fangs. Some snakebites use rings, others use Labret studs. They can be great for cartilage as well, and super cool and chic on the helix and conch too. This will be a favorite in 2023.
