San Leandro, CA – Skate Industry News: Lil Wayne Is Officially A Pro Skater

Most of us know Lil Wayne as a Grammy-winning hip-hop artist. But to those close to the skate industry, he’s also known as a passionate skateboarder. This isn’t Justin Bieber on a skateboard, trying to build street cred, Nor is it a way for the Young Money Boss to sell more records to a new audience. No, Lil Wayne loves everything about skateboarding. He skates when he can, he hangs with those who skate, and he follows skateboarding as much as possible. Lil Wayne’s love for skateboarding has spanned over a decade now.

His hard work has paid off and now the Legendary Artist has officially become a pro for Thank You Skateboards. The amazing honor was blessed upon him earlier this week, when the longtime friend and videographer for Young Money Skate, Phil Lopez, revealed the pro graphic for Lil Wayne. The moment was captured for social media, fellow friends and pro skaters Torey Pudwill, Keelan Dadd, Yosef Ratleff and many others were also able to enjoy the moment with the new pro.

“This was a Christmas gift, but I decided to turn it into a surprise because it would be more meaningful that way”

 “As Wayne’s videographer, I wanted to do something special for him that he’d remember. I approached Torey, owner of Thank You Skate Co., with the board design, and he was able to help execute the production process.” Lopez said in a video.

Wayne was visibly shocked and could not stop smiling from ear to ear when receiving his first pro board. Designed by RX Philly, the black skateboard includes a photo of Wayne from his childhood and some of his favorite rap lyrics. Congrats Lil Wayne!
