San leandro, CA – Skate Industry News: OJ Wheels Keeps Squeezing The Juice

Posted in: Uncategorized

OJ’s wheels are a brand from the folks at NHS inc. They Followed the first wheels NHS produced called Road Riders, one of the first wheels to use sealed precision bearings. At the time the most popular wheels were made by Bones and Sims. Sims had a wheel called the Juice, the OJ name is clearly a shot over the bow of their competitor. They first hit the market around 1977 and are famous for the original orange urethane and classic OJ Wheel Shapes. Over the years OJ wheels have made many specific shapes for street, park, vert, slalom and freestyle skateboarding.

In the 1980’s OJ’s were one of the most popular wheels released under the OJ II Elites banner. The joined NHS’s other ‘Speed Wheels’ brands Bullets and Slimeballs. They collaborated with Christian Hosoi to create a line of OJ Hosoi Rockets. The classic OJ Wheel shapes feature a conical front and radial rear design. OJ’s disappeared from the market for a few years at the end of the 1980’s. NHS recently gave the OJ brand another squeeze a few years back and today they have a killer line up of new OJ wheel shapes and formulas. They take their cues from their historical predecessors and are backed by an elite team of athletes around the world.

After years of manufacturing wheels, OJ offer a top notch Elite formula for their modern street and park wheels. They are available in 99A & 101 durometers. Looking for a smoother ride from OJ Wheels? Then check out the SUPER JUICE series. Unlike other asymmetrical wheel OJ Wheel Shapes these wheels are a blockier classic longboard wheel shape. They are available in sizes as small as 55mm and go right up to larger sized wheels commonly used on cruisers and longboards. They can be your perfect companion for filming or rough terrain.

OJ Wheels may never have reached the heights it did with out some amazing artwork. The OJ logos below were penned by none other than Jim Phillips. Jim is responsible for one of the most iconic skate images ever, the screaming hand. Check out your favorite set of OJ Wheels today at Orbit Skate!!
