San Leandro, CA – Skate Industry News: Carhartt Turns The Skate Scene Inside Out

Posted in: Videos

Carhartt, Inc. is an American apparel company founded in 1889, known for heavy-duty working clothes such as jackets, coats, overalls, coveralls, vests, shirts, jeans, dungarees, fire-resistant clothing and hunting apparel. Carhartt remains a family-owned company, owned by the descendants of founder Hamilton Carhartt, with its headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan.

Founded in 1994, the Carhartt WIP line was developed through the original Detroit family owned Carhartt label and the logo still represents a better buy, certifying the established reputation for quality. With the distinct American style of Carhartt, the WIP (Work In Progress) designs appealed more to the European’s skateboarder sensibility. It was noticed that the label was mainly being distributed to skate shops and independent stores. Carhartt is a brand that stays true to their skate and street wear roots with sweatshirts, t-shirts and utility jackets all featuring simple utilitarian design with urban street wear features like bold graphics or the raglan sleeve.

Carhartt WIP has been quietly assembling a squad and has just released INSIDE OUT -A full-length skate film that has been two years in the making. Featuring Carhartt WIP team riders across a slew of European cities, INSIDE OUT immerses the viewers in their everyday lives and the chaotic processes that lie behind every skate film. Featuring European talent such as Notis Aggelis, Felipe Bartolomé, Matlok Bennett-Jones, Joseph Biais, Eddie Cernicky, Amélien Foures, Nicolas Gisonno, Roman Gonzalez, Samu Karvonen, Alexey Krasniy, Oliver Lock, Josh Pall, Max Palmer, Ebou Sanyang, Maité Steenhoudt, Rémy Taveira, Pietro Tirelli, Sylvain Tognelli, Tolia Titaev, Eetu Toropainen and Armand Vaucher. Directed & edited by Joaquim Bayle, this piece is a must watch for fans of the European style and scenic backdrops.
